Problem
The owner a capable web designer had previously paid a developer to build an application
on a sophisticated platform that did not lend itself to easy edits or additions. The owner a salesman who loved
to edit his designs and add modules could not do so with any degree of satisfaction.
A further challenge was that the old application was not even running and needed to be rebuilt from backup scripts.
Critically the photo kiosk application was the corner stone of a new startup and without the site there was no startup.
Action
An easier to use scripted server language was the option chosen by the salesman for the new version of the
application. The new server enabled rapid design edits and additions in ways that did not crash the server.
The challenge involved migrating data to a different database engine, rebuilding the original application in the old language
on a new server and then recreating and enhancing the application functionality on the designer friendly scripted server engine
Results
The old java application was converted and the existing data migrated to MySQL.
The new webserver contained a newer version of the application with easy to edit and style code
that the salesman formatted modified and augmented for marketing purposes on a regular basis.
The kiosk application was further refined and show cased on the web for the launch of a marketing campaign.
